Why This Module Exists
Because everyone deserves this — not just the people the system was already built for.

Virtual reality has extraordinary therapeutic potential — for emotional regulation, rehabilitation, connection, pain management, quality of life. The research backs it. The outcomes are real. But right now, it mostly reaches people in private hospitals, in the right postcode, who are already well-served by a system built around them. This training exists for everyone else: the child with complex disabilities who has never been to a beach, the person on probation with no access to meaningful wellbeing support, the person living with dementia, slowly losing their world, the person at the end of their life who still has dreams.

Most training programmes begin with the methodology — the steps, the frameworks, the techniques. This one begins with the evidence and the stories. Not because the frameworks are less important, but because frameworks without foundation are just procedures. You need to know why this works before you can deliver it with genuine conviction.

When a commissioner asks whether VR therapy is evidence-based, you need an answer. When a colleague dismisses it as a gimmick, you need a response. When you are in a room with someone who has never tried VR, and you need to hold your own certainty steady enough to help them feel safe — you need this foundation.

Module 1 gives you that. The neuroscience. The published research. The case studies from real sessions. The evidence in numbers. The language to explain and defend what you do — and the knowledge that this is not a niche idea, but a growing global movement you are joining. Everything that follows in this training rests on what you learn here.
